About SC BIO

SC Bio (The South Carolina Biotechnology Incubation Program) is a public/private, not-for-profit organization composed of industry, university, and private entities collaborating to develop new life science companies in South Carolina.  SC Bio is a catalyst that aids in commercialization supporting financial growth, process development, and marketing for emerging life science companies.  Our primary focus is in the following four areas:

Creation of jobs in research, development, and manufacturing in South Carolina.
The state has a tradition of successful manufacturing industries. For future economic growth, South Carolina is looking to broaden the industrial base and create jobs to include research and development. The state's leadership is dedicated to making this vision a reality by coordinating on all levels to provide a favorable growth environment and working with universities to ensure a knowledgeable workforce.

Create new companies developing novel new biotech products.
As part of the incubation program, support will be given in preparing and executing a plan to take new discoveries to full-scale manufacturing.  The objective of SC Bio is to create broad-based research, financing and corporate development support for emerging life science companies that creates a velocity of new product development unmatched in the United States.

Retain research from universities in South Carolina.
SC Bio is an avenue to commercialize discoveries made at research institutions across the state. Biotechnology Incubators are being planned at each research university, providing a sound transition from research to product development. SC Bio is currently supporting over 15 new emerging companies across South Carolina.

Retain gifted and talented young people.
By creating jobs and offering educational and career opportunities in South Carolina, we will be able to use resources from the state to promote and sustain young graduates.  SC Bio works to recruit college business and science graduates to emerging companies.
