Today, SCBIO is a member-led organization that connects and advances South Carolina's life science community through networking, advocacy, events, economic development, workforce development, information, and cost savings.  SCBIO is the lead organization for the life science community and the South Carolina affiliate for national and international associations as AdvaMed, BIO, PhRMA, SEMDA, CSBI and others.

Internships & Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship  Carolina -- a division of the SC Technical College System, works to ensure all employers in South Carolina have access to the information and technical assistance they need to create demand-driven registered apprenticeship programs.

National Resources to Know

  • AdvaMed -- Advanced Medical Technology Association is a trade association that leads the effort to advance medical technology in order to achieve healthier lives and healthier economies around the world 
  • Bio-Link -- Bio-Link is a National Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Center for Biotechnology that originated in late 1998 with a grant from the National Science Foundation. Find online courses, curriculum clearinghouse for instructors, and e-mail discussion groups  
  • BIO - Biotechnology Innovation Organization -- the world's largest biotechnology trade association 
  • CSBI -- The Coalition of State Bioscience Institutes (CSBI) exists to deliver industry-led science education, workforce development and entrepreneurship programs through the coordinated efforts of its 43 state bioscience organization members, including SCBIO 
  • National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce -- the National Center is a coordinated network of five 2-year colleges in the biotechnology arena that has three broad goals: To enhance capacity for biotechnology training by region, to develop, implement, and disseminate curricula and best practices; and to define technical skill standards for biotechnology sectors 
  • National Association for Biomedical Research -- the national nonprofit dedicated to advocating for sound public policy that pursues responsible, humane use of animals in vital biomedical research  
  • PhRMA -- PhRMA represents the country’s leading biopharmaceutical research companies and supports the search for new treatments and cures 
  • SEMDA -- Southeastern Medical Device Association is a non-profit trade association with the mission to make the southeast a world-class region for medical technology, device, and diagnostic companies
