About our Guest Speaker:
Amarinthia (Amy) Curtis, MD is the medical director for Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute. She is a radiation oncologist and clinical researcher who is also the principal investigator for the Upstate Carolina National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). As an NCORP PI her work has been focused on connecting patients to clinical trials. She has received numerous national awards for clinical trial accruals. She serves on the steering committee of the Tomosynthesis Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (TMIST) and on the NCI’s task force for advanced head and neck cancer. Prior to her leadership role at Gibbs Cancer Center, Curtis served as Medical Director for medical specialties at Medical Group of the Carolinas where she developed and led physician teams in Oncology, Gastroenterology, Psychiatry, Neurology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology and Infectious disease. Curtis received her MD from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and did post graduate work at Baylor College of Medicine and Duke University.
