Expanding access to advanced oncology services, clinical trials and research for patients across the Pee Dee region
FLORENCE, S.C. (July 2026) – MUSC Health officially broke ground on the future MUSC Hollings Cancer Center at Florence Medical Center, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer care for patients across the Pee Dee and northeastern South Carolina.
Expected to open in Winter 2027, the new cancer center will be a three-story, 63,000-square-foot facility located on the MUSC Health Florence Medical Center campus. The facility will serve as a regional hub for advanced cancer care, extending the reach of South Carolina’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center.
The MUSC Hollings Cancer Center at Florence Medical Center will bring together a comprehensive range of cancer services under one roof, including medical oncology, radiation therapy and infusion therapy. The facility will also provide patients access to clinical trials, research opportunities and specialized therapies, allowing more individuals to receive innovative cancer care close to home.
The groundbreaking represents the next phase of MUSC Health Florence Medical Center’s integration into the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. Through this network, local physicians and patients gain access to nationally recognized cancer expertise, groundbreaking research, innovative treatments and expanded clinical trial opportunities.

The center is designed to create a seamless continuum of care for patients at every stage of their cancer journey, beginning with screening and diagnosis and continuing through treatment, survivorship and supportive care. By bringing together multidisciplinary cancer services in a dedicated facility, MUSC Health aims to enhance patient convenience, improve coordination among care teams and expand access to emerging therapies.
The new facility also reflects MUSC Health’s commitment to increasing participation in cancer research and clinical trials across the state. Through the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, patients in the Pee Dee will have greater opportunities to participate in studies evaluating promising new treatments and therapies that may not otherwise be available in community settings.
