What is the SCbio Association Health Plan?
The SCbio Association Health Plan is a group health insurance program created specifically for South Carolina life sciences organizations. Offered through SCbio in partnership with Marsh McLennan Agency and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, it gives employers access to large-group health insurance pricing and benefits that are often unavailable to smaller businesses.
Who is eligible to participate?
The plan is designed for South Carolina life sciences organizations, particularly small and mid-sized companies. Eligible employers must be SCbio members and operate within the state’s life sciences ecosystem.
Why should I consider this plan instead of purchasing insurance on my own?
By joining with other life sciences employers, your company benefits from the purchasing power of a larger group, a preferred life sciences industry-specific risk pool, the avoidance of small group insurance requirements that increase premiums, and turnkey administrative support for enrollment and billing. How much could my company save?

Who administers the plan?
The Association Health Plan is offered by SCbio in partnership with Marsh McLennan Agency and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, combining industry expertise with a trusted health insurance provider.
Can I keep my current doctors?
The provider network used is the national BlueCross and Blue Shield PPO network. It is the broadest available network in the country, including the vast majority of doctors and hospitals available. During your consultation, you’ll also be able to review the provider network to confirm whether your preferred physicians and healthcare facilities are included.
Is there an obligation if I request a quote?

Can my employees add vision and dental coverage?
Yes. Dental and vision coverage are available as optional benefits, allowing employers to customize a benefits package that fits their workforce.
